Multi-faceted Multi-hull
A cross between a sea kayak and a trimaran with an innovative hinging pedal drive

One of the most interesting forms of pedalcraft we came across in researching this issue is the Fulmar 19 -- a cross between a sea kayak and trimaran, with a innovative hinging pedal drive unit.

As a trimaran, it's a fast, stable boat. The stability plus the fabric decking encourages freedom of movement, allowing you to sit anywhere on the boat instead of being restricted to the two cockpits.

The akas (crossbeams) fold for tight spaces and for trailering. A single, loose-footed mainsail on an unstayed mast can send the Fulmar 19 skimming at speeds in excess of 14 knots.

When the wind dies, the Sealegs auxilary drive lets the Fulmar 19 cruise comfortably at three to four knots. Or, if the deckings are removed, the boat can be paddled.
