About Our Club: Founded in 1958 the Mississauga Canoe Club was named after the Mississaugas of the New Credit, the tribe of Indians who gathered at the mouth of the Credit each year to trade and catch salmon.
The club originally occupied an old fishing shack at the mouth of the Credit River but soon moved up the river, across from Riverside School, to share a new building with the Don Rowing Club. The present building was built in 1973 and had a major addition and renovation in 1989. MCC is fortunate to be affiliated with the City of Mississauga and to receive support from the Kinsmen who share our building.
Over the last 40 years the Club has produced World and Olympic medalists and World Junior Champions. Our blue and white racing colours have won the Canadian National Championship a record 16 times, most recently in 2003. Currently MCC has members on the Canadian National Senior and Junior Canoe teams.
